Origin of the name
"Noir" is French for "black". Because this dessert has white ("shiro" in Japanese) soft ice cream sitting upon a dark Danish pastry, we created the name "Shiro-Noir". Another aspect of the name comes from the unique idea of taking hot Danish pastry and topping it with cold ice cream. Because the Shiro-Noir concept has characteristics that are the direct opposite of each other, such as "hot/cold" and "white/black", the name "Shiro-Noir" was born.
